Dear Sir

In reference to your lettter dated …………………… regarding proportionate increase in the rent of the house occupied by me, I beg to say that your demand is totally unjustified. I have occupied only half the portion of your house, so you can ask for an increase of only half the amount hiked as house tax, Rs. 500/- only and not Rs. 1,000/-.

I am ready to pay Rs 2,050/- p.m. from the next month if you agree. If not, I shall readily vacate your house at the earliest.

I think, you shall consider my point of view in the right spirit.
