The 15th august is the most important day in the history of India. On this fortunate day our country became free after many centuries. The British left India with bag and baggage.

The 15th December is the birthday of the founder Lala Dedarnath of our school. That is also our annual sports day. Students look to this day eagerly every year.

Three years before I was the student of class VIII in G.M. Modi Higher Secondary School. I worked as a Girl Scout there A Scout Rally as held at Modinagar in the month of December.

Boy-scouts are the young boys and girls who are trained to do useful services. If they are properly trained, they may be employed in doing other social useful jobs.

Last Saturday was a very fine day. The sky was overcast. The cool breeze was blowing. We did not like to read on that day. In second period we requested our class teacher to arrange an excursion on a river.

Last year there were heavy rain the third week of July. It rained almost every day. But to my great surprise, the rain would stop at 6:30 AM. I had to go to school. I prayed to god for heavy rain in the morning.

The school inter-house tournament is a very happy event. Students wait eagerly for the day. In my school the inter-house tournament takes place in the month of December.

In a democratic country, the Government is in the hands of the elected representatives of the people. Hence elections are held after every fixed period of time to elect suitable persons to carry on the Government.

The merits of democracy are so many. In no other form of government do people enjoy so much liberty as in democracy. People are free to express their views.

Circus is a good mean of entertainment. In the past, circus shows were very popular. Young and old, men, women and children, all liked to enjoy a circus show.

In the past, sometimes people covered even long distances on foot. At another time, they went from one place to another in their bullock carts.

India is a land of fairs and festivals. Many festivals are celebrated in India, regularly every year. Holi, Diwali, Dussehra and Raksha Bandhan are the four great Hindu festivals.
