It is a very important period of a child’s life. It may be considered as the basis on which the future structure of a child’s life can be constructed.

The contribution of educational psychology to the theory and practice of education is rich and varied. The knowledge of educational psychology is important as it provides teachers with some basic skills and guidelines to solve the problems of teaching- learning process.

Psychology is the science of behaviour. Mind as well as behaviour constitutes the subject-matter of Psychology. Psychology like other sciences employs certain methods for establishing cause- effect relations.

Scope refers to the fields of operations, applications, topics, and subject matter with which it deals. Since educational psychology is an emerging and growing subject, its scope has never been fixed or static.

In every science, as far as possible, knowledge is obtained first hand. This knowledge is obtained systematised and organised. How is this knowledge obtained? It is done through observation and experiment. To observe is to find a fact; to experiment is to make a fact.

According to Aristotle, “Education is the creation of a sound round in a sound body.”

Failing to define the nature of soul and mind, the psychologists defined psychology as a science of consciousness. The definition was considered too narrow as this did not include the unconscious and preconscious activities of mind.

There is dire need to educate people about environment balance. Earlier we did not bother about our environment and took it for granted.

Education fulfils the needs of society and propagates such ideas which promote social change in all fields of life.

A man is attracted towards region only when he is mentally, healthy and a sound mind is sides in a sound body. So it is the function of religion to co-operate in the physical development of children.

To give place to religion in education is not practicable, because children of all religions come to receive education in schools.
