After the home, the child is exposed to the school which also influences him, for the school is nothing less than a miniature society to him.

Education is an important instrument to bring social revolution among all the instruments education is considered as the most powerful. Education for all, at all levels, and at all ages of children is the only remedy to bring about the desired social change in Indian society.

An evaluation of advantages and limitations of religious education leads us to be conclusion that religion should be given a place in education.

The family plays a very significant part in the individual’s socialization because the child spends his early formative years in the home.

Discipline is the comer-stone of democracy. But democratic discipline does not believe in respiration or compulsion. It advocates self-discipline. In schools where democratic set up is in vogue, the following ideas are emphasized for fostering and developing self-discipline:

Education, to Gandhiji, was a means to achieve perfection of individuality on the one hand and an instrument of service to the nation on the other. Thus, individual and social both the aims of education were considered by him equally important.

Pragmatists want to construct such a flexible, dynamic and integrated curriculum which helps in the development of the child. According to pragmatism only those subjects, activities and experiences should be included in the curriculum which are useful to the present needs of the child and meet the future expectations of adult life as well.

Pragmatism is midway between Idealism and Naturalism. It is an American philosophy typical in nature and practical in approach. The term pragmatism is derived from the Greek word ‘Pragma’ which means activity or the work done.

Man has two facts Spiritual and Material. When the emphasis is on the realization of spiritual life, it is called idealism.

Material World is true. This philosophy considers materialistic world as true which we see directly. Moor has said, “Existence perceives.” This world is a combination of matters.

Like curriculum, text-books and methods, discipline, too, reflects the philosophy of life, accepted at a particular time. It is mainly governed by the aim of education.
