Democracy is a government of the people, for the people, by the people. Democracy has been in existence since ancient times, but it reached its golden era in the twentieth century. India is the largest democracy in the world. The Indian political system is a multiparty system. Most political parties today are only interested in coming to power. We enjoy ever right in theory but in practice. Illiteracy, poverty, inequality, casteism, violence, corruption, terrorism, etc. are posing problems for democracy in India. For democracy to be a success, all these need to be changed. The talented youth of today should b politically educated so that they can become effective leaders of tomorrow.
