The difference between Saprophytes and Parasites are:
- Saprophytes draw nourishment from dead or decaying organic matter.
- Saprophytes secrete enzymes which are released on the substrate.
- For example, mushroom
- Parasites are organisms which live on or within other living organisms and draw nourishment from it.
- Parasites develop haustoria to attach to the host or for sucking food from the hosts’ body.
- For example, Plasmodium.
